Originally published on July 6, 2021

After 25 years since England’s last European Championship semi-final, their finally back here again, and have the added advantage of playing in their home stadium. The English public know how dangerous Denmark are but will expect their national to be in Wembley again on the 11th of July to face either Spain or Italy.

England vs. Denmark

Wednesday, July 7, 2021 – 3:00 PM EDT at Wembley Stadium

Easy Win For England In Rome

England won very convincingly last time out in Roma as they beat Ukraine by four goals to zero. Two goals came from their talisman, Harry Kane. Whilst Man Utd Captain Harry McGuire and Liverpool Captain Jordan Henderson both managed to get on the scoreboard as well. Interestingly Man Utds Luke shaw got himself two assists in the game, which would have been priced up as high as +2500 with BookMaker (visit our BookMaker Review).

It was the first game and only time England will have played outside of Wembley in this year’s Euros. England remain the only side in this year’s competition yet to concede a goal and have now gone seven consecutive game without conceding a goal for the first time ever. England have the home crowd behind them and do have the better team on paper compared to Denmark, BUT Denmark is playing unbelievable football right now and punching way above their weight with such dominant performances and all without their captain and arguably their best player Cristian Erickson.

Twenty Five Years ago the English had last made it into the European Championship semi-final, were they lost on home soil on penalties at Wembley. That day the English went out 6-5 on penalties to the eventual tournament winners Germany. Amazingly the reason England didn’t advance that they was because then player, Gareth Southgate had missed his penalty kick. If you are unfamiliar with soccer, Southgate is now the English national team manager and through his team will be looking to re write his wrongs in the same stadium (kind of) , and competition as 1996.

Is This Destiny For This Danish Team

Pre-Tournament this Danish team were earmarked as a potential dark horse to win this year’s Euros and had been backed all the way from +8000 into +2500 just before their tournament opener against Finland. As we all know, national captain and leader Cristian Erickson went down with a suspected cardiac arrest, leaving his life in the balance as millions watched on their tv and at the stadium.

The Denmark players surrounded their captain whilst the medics rushed to save his life. Erickson survived the ordeal but will no doubt probably never play soccer again. The trauma of the event overcame the Danish players as they eventually lost to Finland. Following two losses in a row, they somehow managed to survive the group and entered into the last 16 were they have taken the scalp of Wales and the Czech Republic.

Albeit these are not the best of teams at the tournament, Denmark have been incredibly impressive and theirs an amazing team spirit driving this team to do well. I’m sure nobody would begrudge them if they won the tournament outright.

England vs. Denmark Prediction

This game is going to be tight, England are so close to the finals they can almost smell it, but they will be VERY weary of this Danish team who have been quite literally scoring goals for fun at this year’s Euros. They have scored 10 goals in their previous 3 games.

Gareth Southgate really only let his team off the lead last time out against Ukraine, but other than that it seems his main strategy is to not lose games as to going out to win games, its worked so far and they haven’t conceded yet, but we believe this Danish team will be strong if England don’t put them under pressure.

Take Denmark double chance at +100 at your EURO 2020 odds in this match, England might overcome them eventually but we think it will take more than 90 minutes to see off this team. We also like a side prop bet here as we think the England total shots line at 11.5 is a little too high and we believe the “true” line in our eyes should be 10.0. Take England under 11.5 shots at -110 for a side bet here. They have been averaging only 7.4 shots per game which is the third lowest in the competition.
