Before you get ready for Bowl Season in college football, don’t forget about the time-honored tradition of the Army vs. Navy game this Saturday afternoon. We’re looking at the best player props for this classic matchup with the latest odds from top-rated sportsbooks.

College Football Prop Bets Week 16 At-a-Glance

For this week’s best football player props, we are dialed in on the Army vs. Navy game live at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland. Navy is a 6.5-point favorite with a total of 38 points. We are looking at the team’s run-heavy quarterbacks, Cale Hellums and Blake Horvath, and their prospects of finding the end zone with their legs.

Army’s Cale Hellums (Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-162) at Bovada)

Army quarterback Cale Hellums is coming off a win over UTSA 2 weeks ago, where he threw the game-winning touchdown pass in a 27-24 comeback victory. But even more than the Midshipmen, the Black Knights are a ground-based attack on offense, and Hellums is by far their leading rusher with 264 carries for 1,078 yards and 15 touchdowns. He only has 3 touchdown passes on the season, so he is 5x more likely to run one in for his squad.

Hellums also accounts for 60% of the team’s 25 rushing touchdowns this season, so he’s their best bet to score on the ground. Army only generated one offensive touchdown against Navy in last year’s 31-13 loss, and this year’s offense actually averages 8.1 fewer points per game.

But with Hellums as a new starting quarterback getting his first taste of this rivalry, we’re going to trust him to run for a score as he’s done in 8-of-11 games this season. Navy only ranks 82nd in scoring defense and gives up an average of 1.6 rushing touchdowns per game. You could say the Midshipmen are mid against the run at best.

Navy’s Blake Horvath (2+ Touchdowns (+285) at Bovada)

While we like Army’s Cale Hellums to score a rushing touchdown, we really like the value in Navy quarterback Blake Horvath to score at least 2 touchdowns (rushing) for the Midshipmen. He’s the better player, and he’s done this already against Army in last year’s win when he had 24 carries for 196 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also threw for 107 yards and 2 touchdowns in one of the best games of his career.

Horvath has scored multiple rushing touchdowns in 40% (4-of-10) of his games this season, so that’s pretty good success rate for these odds. He also hasn’t done it in his last  3 games, so maybe he’s saving up for a huge day again in what I’m sure is a most meaningful matchup for him.

The Army defense allows 147.1 rushing yards and 1.4 rushing touchdowns per game while ranked 49th in the nation in scoring defense (22.5 points per game). Horvath will not be denied.
