As we delve into the details of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship 2023, we will explore the course, the players to watch, the event’s rich history, and the excitement that surrounds this remarkable gathering of golfing talent in the heart of the Atlantic.

Butterfield Bermuda Championship

November 9 – November 12, 2023 at Port Royal Golf Course, Bermuda

Course Notes

  • Port Royal Golf Course
  • Southampton, Bermuda
  • Par 71, 6842 yards
  • Robert Trent Jones’ design
  • Bermuda grass throughout like the name and unusually Bermuda greens for a seaside track
  • It is at the mercy of the natural elements with its exposed location at the seaside and the rugged terrain that comes with it, although half the holes are the parkland variety.

Weather Forecast

The weather forecast is set fair with very little chance of rain until Sunday.  However, after a calm Thursday and Friday, the winds are set to pick up over the weekend with rain likely on Sunday also.

Predicted Winning Score

If the weather plays out as predicted, I believe we are looking at the bottom end of the previous winning scores, possibly fifteen under par or just below.

Can Another Colombian Go Close this Week?

At BMR we investigate this week’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship to bring readers and followers their best golf bets and top of our list is Nicolas Echavarria.

Last week at the WWT Championship, Colombian Camilo Villegas nearly turned the clock back for what would have been a popular victory on the PGA Tour, nevertheless, a runner-up placing was a brave effort from the forty-one-year-old.

For many years, Villegas had been the only Colombian talisman of note on the PGA Tour but in recent years that’s changed, and he now has a younger compatriot making waves.  His name is Nicolas Echavarria who is twelve years his junior and hails from the same city of Medellin.

Unsurprisingly, this week’s conditions are close to optimum for Echavarria who looked very close to his best last week at the Mexican track of El Cardonal.  Much of his best form efforts are at coastal tracks and indeed, in last year’s Bermuda Championship, Echavarria was up with the leading pack after two rounds (64,66), only to fall away over the weekend, eventually finishing 23rd.

Then a few months later in early 2023, Echavarria won his first PGA Tour Title at the Puerto Rico Open in impressive style.  Since which, Echavarria hadn’t kicked on as many would have expected over the PGA season with a run of a dozen missed cuts.

The Picks

Therefore, last week’s solid showing on the 31st put him on our radar for this week. If he doesn't go missing in the Bermuda Triangle, this week sees a great opportunity for Echavarria to win a second PGA Tour event in 2023.

We suggest using Bovada, one of our top-rated sportsbooks for Nicolas Echavarria's best outright win price (+10000) combined with BetOnline Top 20 price of (+400).

We Need No Hiccups for Kramer this Week

At BMR, we have our fingers crossed that there are no Hiccups for Kramer Hickok this week in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship because he has a strong form profile.

Let’s investigate the case of Kramer Hickok.

The thirty-one-year-old from Austin Texas grew up playing in the windy state and has a strong control of his ball flight which helps around the Port Royal Golf Course.

That shows in Hickok’s previous results at Port Royal Golf Course, where he has three top 30 finishes in the four years of the event while last week’s 15th at the WWT Championship is the evidence that he’s in good nick.

Hickok’s best PGA Tour finish was runner-up at the TPC River Highlands in the 2021 Travelers Championship where he lost a marathon sudden-death play-off to Harris English.  That is an event that seems to correlate well with many of the same players finishing prominently at both, like last year’s champion, Seamus Power, and the 2019 winner, Brendon Todd.

The Picks

Here at BMR, we like Kramer Hickok to have his usual solid week in Bermuda so take the top 20 alternative with BetOnline at the price of (+2500).

Add a more modest stake on Kramer Hickok having his first PGA Tour win this week at Bovada price of (+6600).
