A long weekend series gets underway Thursday night in San Diego where the Padres hope to use the time to make up ground in the NL West race while the Milwaukee Brewers expect to stretch their lead in the NL Central.
Friars Home After 1-5 Road Trip
This is another less-than-stellar matchup on the mound with Bryse Wilson (4-3, 3.84) going for Milwaukee while Adam Mazur (0-2, 7.82) is up next in the San Diego rotation. But it’s also another game with tight moneylines as the Brewers are a slight favorite.
Wilson’s last two road starts have been losers with the righthander allowing 10 runs in as many innings, but he has surrendered just 1 run in his last 10+ innings against the Padres. Mazur, meanwhile, will be making just his fourth MLB appearance, and his lone outing at Petco was a disaster 11 days ago (3 IP, 8 ER).
Both sides are dealing with numerous injuries, but the Padres have been hit especially hard with pitchers Joe Musgrove and Yu Darvish sidelined along with shortstop Xander Bogaerts.
