Can Ferrari be stopped on practically one of their “home circuits”? Charles Leclerc is already leading the championship by 34 points over George Russell and has been made +110 favorite to pick up the win here in Imola, Italy.

Check out the Formula1 best bets we have in store for you this week.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix

Sunday, April 24, 2022 – 09:00 AM EDT at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari

Previous Race

Charles Leclerc took pole position and claimed the race win in Melbourne, Australia by a total of 20 seconds ahead of Sergio Perez in 2nd.

It was a disaster of a race for current world champion Max Verstappen who retired on lap 38, making it the second race he has failed to finish in the first three rounds, all due to car failures, leaving him sitting in 6th place thanks to his win in Saudi Arabia.

It seems McLaren had us all fooled as they predicted they would struggle in Australia. Even Australian Daniel Riccardo claimed he would do well to finish inside the top 10. Both drivers finished 5th and 6th and qualified inside the top 7.

First Formula1 Sprint Race of the Season

As introduced last year in a few races the short sprint race was a chance to shake up the field and make the racing a little more exciting but in reality, although some have proven to be just that, they haven’t been a game-changer.

Even current championship leader Charles Leclerc has claimed he even forgot there was a sprint race taking place this weekend.

There were supposed to be six sprint races this season but teams claiming cost damage due to increased crashes in sprint races have kept the total number to three this season as well.

The big shake-up for this year’s sprint race has been the points revamp which previously saw just the top 3 drivers pick up points. Now, it has increased to the top 8 with 8th place receiving 8 points and 7th place 7 points and so on.

Pole position from Q3 will be given pole position for the race regardless of their final position in the sprint race compared to last season, which is something we are not a fan of.

The whole point of a sprint race or at least half of it was that Pole position could end up lower down the field and start there in the actual full-length race.

Both Cars to Be Classified

We have to target the Red Bulls to not be classified, at some nice plus money, given the fact they have seen a 50% car failure rate thus far this season. Obviously, they’ll have worked on this issue during the two-week break but we will fade it until we see it happen with our own eyes.

Red Bull has not had great success overall at this circuit having had a 15th place and retirement in 2020 and a 1st and 11th in 2021. The first place was impressive but Perez’s 11th place despite finishing 2nd in qualifying was very poor.

Almost +300 to target Red Bulls’ early-season woes? Yes, please!

Number of Classified Drivers

Honestly, the value isn’t huge here. In fact, it’s probably as low as we would take this bet, if you can get any better than -115 you will find the value.

That being said, this is a track that has averaged 4 non-classified drivers across the previous two races. Although we need 5 for this bet to cash, we see this being a big race as another Ferrari win will surely stamp their authority on the championship.

Desperate times, plus a track that is fast and has a few overtaking opportunities, let’s take a shot on the under 16.5.

Formula 1 Pick: Under 16.5 Classified Drivers (-115) at BetOnline

Car to Set Fastest Lap

Ferrari has proved to be very strong so far this year and they have picked up pole position in 2 of the previous 3 three races this season and set the fastest race lap in all 3 races so far this season. We think win or lose, the Ferrari is a good shout to set the fastest lap of the race at -110.

Formula 1 Pick: Ferrari Fasted Lap (-110) at the Top Rated Sportsbooks
