Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Ruling Clears the Way for Completion of Mount Airy Casino Resort

PARADISE TOWNSHIP, Pa., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania's unanimous ruling upholding the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board's award of a gaming license to Mount Airy Casino Resort clears the way for the spectacular new, $412 million resort facility to complete initial construction and open its doors this Fall.

"I am thankful that the Supreme Court has upheld the Gaming Board's decision to award a license to Mount Airy Casino Resort," said Louis A. DeNaples, Mount Airy's owner. "As I promised from the start, Mount Airy Casino Resort will help to revitalize the entire Northeast Pennsylvania Region."

The unanimous 7-0 Supreme Court ruling in favor of Mount Airy Casino Resort means that Phase I construction of the facility will "continue to move forward" according to DeNaples.

Upon its completion this Fall, Mount Airy will offer a casino with 2,500 slot machines, 188-room hotel, spa and salon, restaurants, nightclub, retail shopping and meeting space. Work on Phase I of the 891-acre site will continue after the opening, with an additional 212 hotel rooms, pool, and a casino with up to 3,000 total slot machines completed by the end of 2008.

Mount Airy expects to employ nearly 1,000 people when its doors open. A substantial number of those employees will be residents of Northeast Pennsylvania.

"We've planned Mount Airy Casino Resort to be an exciting new addition to the Poconos, but our goal has always been to complement, not compete with the many existing attractions that make the Poconos such a terrific destination," DeNaples said. "We look forward to a great partnership with the people and businesses of the Poconos, working together to make the Poconos an even greater place to live, work or visit."
