Saratoga Gaming and Raceway Announces The Lodge Summer Schedule

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Saratoga Gaming and Raceway's fine dining restaurant, The Lodge, is returning for another fantastic season. The Lodge, at One Nelson Ave, will be open from July 25th until September 3rd this season, seven days a week from 5:30pm until 11:00pm. "We don't intend to miss a beat," said Michael Battaglia, Director of Food and Beverage. "The Lodge is a part of the Saratoga experience and we look forward to providing the same high level of service our patrons have been accustomed to."

Onboard for his first season at The Lodge, Executive Chef Philip Fitzpatrick was the Chef de Cuisine at Siro's for nine years. Additionally he spent 5 winters in St. Croix at Villa Madeline where he was featured on the Discovery Channel's Great Chefs of the World. Fitzpatrick expects 2007 to be a busy season. "The Lodge has a loyal patronage; we're already getting calls from regulars here, making their reservations for the season."

"From the private 'Chef's Table' to the live piano accompaniment; it is truly a magical place," added Manager Ron Farber. Farber is the former owner of "Dine" in Saratoga Springs and Fort Lauderdale.

The history of the lodge is as rich as the food now served within it. Formerly known as the "Cedar Lodge," the home was constructed at the turn of the century to serve as the residence of Mr. Harry Payne Whitney. The Lodge features elegant inlaid cedar walls with oak and pecan floors accompanied by hand mitered railings. Serving as a private home for many years, the structure later became the executive office of Saratoga Harness Racing, Inc. In 1995, the estate was converted into a seasonal restaurant complemented by the adjacent polo fields and harness racing track. Through the many changes The Lodge has experienced over the years, the building remains imbued with a warm ambiance and style reminiscent of old Saratoga.

The Lodge is proud to offer food grown from local farmers. The menu for the 75 seat restaurant features a contemporary continental cuisine with a cutting edge flare. Menu items include Yellow Fin Tuna, Hudson Valley Fois Gras, Domestic Loin of Lamb, and much more. In addition to the exceptional dining menu, The Lodge hosts an extensive wine list of local, domestic and international selections from award winning vineyards. Reservations are encouraged.
