31-05-2007 Betshop hit by substantial adverse sporting results in May

Leisure and Gaming, owner of online bookmaker Betshop, said that despite turnover continued to grow in line with management expectations, the Champions League victory of AC Milan resulted in a material trading loss for May estimated at approximately EUR 1.4m at the gross profit level.

For the four months to 30 April 2007, Betshop recorded earning before interest and tax of approximately EUR 1.1m (a 31% increase on the equivalent period in 2006) from turnover of EUR 44.6m (a 91% increase on the equivalent period in 2006) and net win of EUR 11.9m (a 71% increase on the equivalent period in 2006).
