The Greek lottery and gaming firm reported a 51% increase in revenues to EUR 791.4m and a 56% rise in earnings to EUR 235.1m in 2006. CEO Constantinos Antonopoulos also said he was confident that INTRALOT's Turkish unit Inteltek will be successful in retaining Turkey's fixed-odds betting game Iddaa.
Elsewhere, German lottery operator Tipp24 reported a 124% increase in net profit to EUR 7.4m on increased revenue of EUR 264.2m. The number of registered customers rose to 1.77m (2005: 1.32m) thanks to a favorable jackpot situation in the second half of 2006. The company's founder Jens Schumann said that following the Placanica verdict by the European Court of Justice and the censure of the the current Draft State Gaming Treaty in Germany by the European Commission, he expects deregulation in Europe and significant amendments to the German draft treaty. |
