27-09-2007 US compensation offer to the European Union is insufficient |

A spokesman for Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson told Reuters the EU will continue to negotiate the compensation offer in order to improve it.
But while the WTO deadline for the United States and the EU to agree on compensation is October 22, lawyers familiar with the dispute believe it could go on for years.
"Rather than face paying billions in trade compensation, which would have a significant adverse impact on the American economy, the U.S. should embrace the legislative solution presented by the Frank bill, which brings the U.S. into compliance by regulating Internet gambling and creating a level playing field among domestic and foreign Internet gambling operators," commented Jeffrey Sandman, spokesperson of the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling Initiative, which promotes the freedom of individuals to gamble online.
