26-03-2005 North Dakota Senate defeats Internet poker constitutional amendment

Supporters of regulated poker had hoped the constitutional amendment would have been placed on the June 2006 ballot for North Dakota voters to decide whether to endorse it.

The bill's critics, however, said if the Legislature put the proposal to a vote, North Dakotans might have interpreted the move as lawmakers' tacit endorsement of Internet poker regulation.
