25-09-2007 ATP world No.3 offered £110,000 to lose a match

As British tennis player Tim Henman told BBC One that betting in tennis is endangering the integrity of the sport, the Serb star Novak Djokovic said he was offered £110,000 to lose the first round match in St Petersburg last year. Djokovic refused the offer and did not even attend the tournament.

"Tennis is an easy target because it's a two-horse race and there is a lot going on. You talk about a Grand Slam - there are 64 men's matches and 64 women's matches from the first round and there is a lot that can be bet on," said Henman, who asked the Association of Tennis Professionals to be very vigilant and to impose stringent sanctions on players if they are found to have been involved in betting irregularities.
