23-12-2004 Ladbrokes has stopped taking bets on a White Christmas

According to UK's largest bookmaker the snow failing on December 25 would cost betting companies over £1m.

"We quite simply don't want to take any more money on a white Christmas," a Ladbrokes spokesman said.

Ladbrokes's biggest bet is 5,000 pounds on snow in London at odds of 5 to 1 taken November 17. That means if it snows the punter would win 25,000 pounds.
