While the Absolute Poker scandal took a new twist with claims that someone close to the site's owner cheated other online poker players out of millions of dollars over the years, 100 of the over 800,000 members of the Poker Players Alliance are heading towards Washington to press US lawmakers to introduce online gambling regulations or to repeal part of the online gambling ban to exclude games of skill such as poker, backgammon, bridge, chess and mahjong.
In related news, Harvard Law School professor Charles Nesson has teamed with law students to form the Global Poker Strategic Thinking Society, an association that supports the legalization of poker as a game of skill.
