23-07-2007 Offshore banks to close internet gambling-related accounts

The Antigua Sun reports that despite UIGEA regulations haven't yet been published, offshore banking jurisdictions such as the Isle of Man have informed Antigua-based companies that they intend to close all gambling-related accounts. But it gets worse.

Ron Maginley, former Antigua's Director of Gaming, told the Sun that since the US legislation makes US banks criminally liable for facilitating gambling transactions, even Antigua's banks are closing gambling-related accounts because they are concerned about losing their corresponding banks in the United States.
