The Alberta native band refused to comply with a cease and desist order issued by the province's Gaming Commission and announced to have received a letter from a member of the United Nations, in support of the band's plan to "build a safe regulatory environment for people to enjoy online gaming."
"The Government of Alberta desires to ignore our sovereignty and our right to regulate online gaming transacted within our territory," commented Ray Arcand, Chief of the Alexander First Nation. "The expression of Support from the United Nations is an honour, and makes our whole community proud of our achievements," he added. |
