21-06-2006 Italy blocks Malta's Lotteries and Gaming Authority official website

The LGA's site linked to 68 online gambling sites licensed in Malta. LGA Chief Executive Mario Galea strongly opposed Italy’s actions: "We cannot accept that the good, the bad and the ugly are thrown in the same basket. Malta’s websites are regulated by the official Maltese authority."

Galea also said the LGA is still awaiting a reply from the European Commission whether infringement procedures should be commenced against Italy for the blockade of 684 internet gambling sites back in February.
