21-03-2007 Sportingbet reaches amicable resolution with the Louisiana District Attorney

The online betting group paid a $400,000 settlement to have all outstanding arrest warrants for its executives cancelled with immediate effect. Sportingbet's former Non-Executive Chairman Peter Dicks was arrested in New York last September on charges of "gambling by computer". He was later released when New York Governor George Pataki declined to sign an extradition warrant to Louisiana.

In other news, Bwin's Chief executive Norbert Teufelberger told a German magazine that the Austrian bookmaker would benefit from the synergies of a merger with Sportingbet. Bwin confirmed two weeks ago to be in takeover talks with the UK-based betting firm.
