21-01-2005 Betfair wants to remain onshore

Commenting on the report from The Observer, which claimed that the UK's Government would increase the tax rate on betting exchanges, Antonia Sharpe, spokesperson for Betfair, said she firmly believed there was no truth to the story. "It looks like the story was motivated by vested interests, because we have heard nothing along those lines from the Treasury. We are not concerned, and we await the findings of the Treasury with interest," Sharpe said.
