19-02-2008 British government plans horse racing levy announcement on Wednesday

Reuters revealed today that the UK Government is ready to unveil the terms for the new levy establishing the parameters for the financing of horse racing in the near future.

In related news, the Responsibility in Gambling Trust called for statutory funding if betting operators fail to pay up under the existing voluntary arrangements and RIGT is not able to meet its funding targets.

Fred Done, owner of Betfred and SIS shareholder, told the Racing Post he is not ready to back down in the racing picture dispute against Turf TV, a procedure likely to lead to a full court case.
