17-11-2006 Supreme Court rules in favour of state-owned Danske Spil

The Danish Court ruled against Ladbrokes, which in 2003 appealed for permission to run betting operations in Denmark, stating that the Danske Spil's monopoly is legal and in accordance with EU regulations.

Ladbrokes has brought similar cases before national courts in Finland, Sweden and Norway. In this last case, the Oslo City Court has requested an advisory opinion to the EFTA Court. A judgement is expected during the early months of 2007.
