The online payment provider completed the acquisition of a strategic stake in Centricom, owner of the POLi payment platform in Australia and New Zealand, for a consideration of A$5 million.
The POLi system allows customers to make payments online from their internet bank accounts, without disclosing their bank or credit card details to the merchant. NETeller introduced the POLi service to its Australian customers in January 2007.
In other news, Optimal Group, owner of FireOne, announced revenues for $28.0m in the second quarter 2007, compared to $52.2m in the same period last year. The company said the passage of the UIGE Act will continue to have for at least the short term a significant negative impact on the financial results of FireOne.
