13-09-2007 National Gambling Amendment Bill approved by South Africa's National Assembly

After weeks of public hearings, the National Assembly approved legislation that requires internet gambling sites interested to operate in South Africa to apply for a local license as well as to host their hardware equipment within the country and to implement a dispute resolution procedure for players.

The legislation now goes to the National Council for further discussion.
