12-07-2007 Luke Behrmann's RacingOdds moves to the Northern Territory

Behrmann Bookmaking, which trades on the internet as RacingOdds, is the latest New South Wales bookmaker to move his business from Sidney to the Northern Territory.

Managing Director Luke Behrmann told the Daily Telegraph that "it was pointless operating in Sydney while his rivals in the Top End enjoyed tax relief and operated on all races and sporting events both locally and around the world."

RacingOdds was the first Australian bookmaker to operate dual stands in Sydney Metropolitan meetings. Another Sidney bookmaker, Colin Tidy's BetChoice, made the move to Darwin last October and now is looking at a turnover of $100 million, compared to just $2 million when it was operating online from New South Wales.
