11-10-2007 Bookmaker dossiers suggest how tennis players could fix matches

The Telegraph reports that a number of bookmakers have produced dossiers and shared information about suspicious tennis matches.

The UK newspaper says to have seen a document listing over 130 matches with irregular betting patterns, detailing many different ways players could have used to corrupt the outcomes.

The dossier, which has been seen by the ATP, also reveals the names of the bettors involved in suspicious betting transactions, but it doesn't prove the connection between illegal betting and specific tennis players.

"It's difficult to establish that someone has thrown away a match, and it's another step to establish that they did it for money," commented a spokesperson for the International Tennis Federation. "We know there are large syndicates out there, and we know who bets out there, but we have nothing so far that connects it to a player."
