|
The developer of software for the online and land-based gambling industry announced revenues from continuing operations, which exclude contributions from the US, increased by 22% compared to Q4 2006 and by 85% compared to Q1 2006. Playtech also said the trend is continuing into the second quarter of 2007. The European segment, which has grown significantly over the past year, is expected to show further growth following the Tribeca acquisition, whose migration onto the iPoker network was completed in March, and as a result of internal growth from existing licensees. Following the migration of Tribeca's licensees onto Playtech, the iPoker network has more than doubled its number of players and has become one of the world's largest poker networks. Commenting on the results, CEO Mor Weizer said: "Playtech has started the year extremely well and this is likely to continue into the second quarter of the year. Recent changes across various regulated markets are creating significant business opportunities for Playtech, which we are actively pursuing. We look forward to developing these opportunities supported by our strong focus on product innovation and development." In other news, eCOGRA appointed a dedicated team to run its Total Gaming Transaction Review, a system that will be able to monitor payout percentages on a range of gamesg, analyze data and deliver reports in 14 different languages, including Chinese and Japanese. The objective of TGTR is to confirm on an ongoing basis that the games being used in online gambling casinos are independent and fair. This will ensure complete player confidence in operator procedures and increase confidence in the online gambling industry. |
