09-07-2007 Islamic fundamentalists laundered funds through dozens of online gambling sites

While the deadline for the US federal authorities to come up with regulations to block internet gambling transactions is approaching tomorrow, the Washingtom Post reveals that the three UK residents, who pleaded guilty this week to charges of using the internet to incite murder, laundered funds from stolen credit card accounts through dozens of online gambling sites, including Betfair, BetonBet, Canbet and Eurobet.

Although details were never presented in court, Tariq al-Daour, Waseem Mughal and Younes Tsouli conducted 350 transactions at 43 different online gambling websites, using more than 130 compromised credit card accounts and transferring balances to online bank accounts they controlled.

Investigators found on a computer belonging to Tariq al-Daour some 37,000 stolen credit card numbers, with information such as the account holder's address, date of birth, credit balance and limits.
