The site promoted by Australian bowler Shane Warne was taken offline after the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation said it was illegal to advertise in Victoria the playing of interactive gambling games. "Gambling is a strictly regulated business and we would expect all people to comply with legislation, whether they are high profile or not," commented executive commissioner Peter Cohen.
In other news, INTRALOT signed a 5 year contract to provide an online gaming system to Lottery Commission of Western Australia (Lotterywest), Sydney bookmaker Robbie Waterhouse applied for a license to operate in Victoria and Lasseters Sports' Gerard Daffy said bookmakers and punters were left vulnerable by AFL clubs deliberately listing unavailable players. "We are entitled to feel aggrieved. They take the cash out of the game, the AFL, but offer nothing in return," said Daffy.
