06-11-2007 Court of Appeal lifts Bwin's ban in the German state of Hessen

The court said a previous ruling by a lower court was null and void because a ban on internet-based gaming is technically unfeasible.

The decision comes just few weeks before parliaments across Germany are expected to pass a treaty that will ban internet sports betting. Gaming law specialist Wulf Hambach recently stated that if the treaty is passed it will be the funeral for private online operators in Germany.

Meanwhile, German lottery operator Tipp24 entered the UK market with the launch of MyLotto.co.uk, which offers British punters the possibility of placing bets on European lotteries such as the Italian SuperEnalotto.
