05-03-2007 Alfonse D'Amato signs on as a lobbyist for the Poker Player's Alliance

A PPA spokesperson confirmed the former US Senator will try to convince his former Washington colleagues to overturn the ban on internet gambling or at least exempt poker from its provisions.

D'Amato said prohibition will drive the online poker industry underground and provide an opening for unscrupulous operators. "Prohibitions don't work, they only create unintended consequences. The American people know this and we are going to make sure Congress knows it too," he said.
