04-04-2006 75 per cent of Americans oppose moves by Congress to ban internet poker

The survey conducted on March 29 by ICR, an independent market research supplier, was presented by the Poker Players Alliance, a non-profit organization advocating on behalf of American poker players, during a roundtable panel discussion to renew the organization's opposition to Congress' efforts to prohibit online gambling.

"The new poll results are a clear illustration of the public's feelings on this issue. Simply put, people don't want their member of Congress telling them what they can and cannot do in their own home -- especially when it comes to a game that's as all-American as jazz or basketball," said Michael Bolcerek, President of the Poker Players Alliance.

In separate news, eCOGRA (eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance) awarded the 'Play It Safe' seal to 7 more internet poker rooms from the Ongame and Prima Poker networks: Europoker.com (Ongame network), Trident Poker (Prima Poker network), 3 Piggs Poker (Prima Poker network), Gaming Club Poker (Prima Poker network), River Belle Poker (Prima Poker network), 7 Sultans Poker (Prima Poker network) and Royal Vegas Poker (Prima Poker network).
