Gigi Levy, Chief Executive of the online gaming operator, told Reuters that 888 plans to launch the first element of its new sports betting offering by the beginning of next year. The 888 Sportsbook is expectyed to be a white label of Rank's Blue Square. Levy also said there will be another deal by the end of the year. "It'll be something that doesn't cost much but hopefully makes a lot of money," he said.

In other news, Blue Square entered the mobile casino market in partnership with mobile gambling specialist Probability.

Casino.com launched its online casino offering on the Playtech network under the license of Mansion Online Casino Limited.

Online games developer Electracade announced a strategic deal with casino platform Betsoft to start offering a complete casino and soft games package.

Online poker software provider Playwize unveiled disappointing resilts for the year to 31 March 2007, with a loss before tax of £1,962,000. The company also highlighted the lack of significant marketing funds to promote its online poker game. Chairman John Corre commented: "Playwize is vigorously pursuing a number of opportunities available to licence our online poker game to other online poker rooms, whilst continuing to develop games for niche markets through joint ventures or under work for hire contracts."
