BetonSports executives plead guilty to federal racketeering charges |
Neil Scott Kaplan and Lori Beth Kaplan-Multz, brother and sister of BOS founder Gary Kaplan, and Penelope Ann Tucker, the former personal assistant of Kaplan, have pleaded guilty to racketeering charges in the U.S. District Court in St. Louis.
All three agreed to forfeit money held in Swiss Bank accounts. Since the US prosecutors built a big part of their case against BetonSports on the bookmaker's false claims that money was safe and available to withdraw at any time, it will be interesting to see how much of the funds forfeited by the three former BetonSports executives will be used by the federal authorities to re-pay customers, which the liquidators had at one point estimated to be owed at least $25 million.
