Bet365 free bet television ad banned by UK advertising authority |
|
After several players complained they had been denied free bets, the Advertising Standards Authority banned a television advertisement from Bet365 offering free bets as it mislead viewers to place bets on the condition that if they won they could place further bets for free. But what really happened was that Bet365 denied the free bets claiming the offer was being exploited by players that were using betting exchanges to lay off their bets effectively gaining a free bet without risking any of their own money. According to the ASA ruling, since the Bet365 television ad did not state that customers who used betting exchanges would be excluded from the offer, the ad was likely to mislead potential customers. This is not the first time Bet365 had a free bet ad banned by the Advertising Standards Authority for misleading players. Back in October 2009, two press ads for £200 in free bets featured in the Racing Post were banned since they did not clarify that players were required to spend £900 of their own money to obtain the full £200 of free bets stated in the offer.
