Remote Gambling Association: we exist to promote our members' interests and therefore could not claim to be impartial |
|
In the BMR dispute with Globet about our affiliate commissions (again like in the Interwetten case we are talking few hundreds euros), since trying to bring the Globet affiliate manager to reason has proved to be a total waste of time, I submitted a number of complaints against them, amongst others: to their affiliate software provider, who is currently looking into the case, and to the Remote Gambling Association. The RGA is well known for its battles on behalf of online gambling operators against European national monopolies and more recently against the UIGEA and the US Government, so in all honesty I didn't expect them to receive any assistance from them, but I was shocked to read the reason why they could not assist. Here is RGA's director answer: "There is no role for a trade association to arbitrate in such matters, especially as we exist to promote our members' interests and therefore could not claim to be impartial.“ Now to be fair, I have to say that their members list is nothing but good. There are no well-known slow-payers or other bookmakers subject to a high number of players complaints, but then again their clear stance in this case leaves the door open to a doubt: what will they do if one of their members is proved to be a thieve? Will they remove it? Or because they exist to promote its interest they would simply do nothing? Date published: 17 October 2009 Related rating updates |
