IBAS adjudicates Bet1128 case in favour of players-UPDATES |
After a full panel meeting the Independent Betting Adjudication Service ruled in favour of the players who had their Olympic boxing bets voided by Bet1128 on claims that being the same tips available on a betting forum the players were involved in syndicate betting.
According to IBAS, Bet1128 has been unable to establish any links between the players other than the fact that they placed the same bets, which IBAS defined "not particularly complicated".
IBAS also said that Bet1128 should have managed the risk in a similar way to major UK bookmakers who stopped the betting on Olympic boxing after it became evident that the non-seeded draws had advantaged some boxers to reach the semi-finals.
One of the players who originally requested assistance to BMR said he immediately asked for payment but was told by Bet1128 that the manager responsible for payments will be back only on May 19.
UPDATE 22-05-2009: The player received an e-mail from the payment manager confirming that Bet1128 was going to fully honour the IBAS ruling and pay the winnings.
The player agreed to be paid by installments of 5000 euros per week starting on May 25.
UPDATE 25-05-2009: The 1st tranche of payment was paid today as planned.
UPDATE 25-06-2009: Ther player says Bet1128 continues to pay the installments as promised.
While we are satisfied of the happy ending for the players and apppreciate that Bet1128 did the right thing at the end honouring the IBAS ruling, Bookmakers Review will start looking into Bet1128 rating only 6 months from now as we don't want to forget that until a month ago Bet1128 claimed the players were colluded and ignored all our e-mails requesting them to appply good sense to the situation. Hence for the time being Bet1128 rating is confirmed at 2 and the bookmaker remains in the Red list.
UPDATE 15-07-2009: Player received the final installment from Bet1128. The balance that was confiscated in September 2008 has now been paid in full.
